almacena carga,sabemos resolver las operaciones.etc pero porque es importante en el circuito,es algo de lo q no estaba muy seguro y esta guia me lo aclaro&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p style="color: rgb(51, 204, 255); font-weight: bold;" class="subtitulo"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Qué es un capacitor&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Ante todo, debemos decir que se llama &lt;strong&gt;capacitor&lt;/strong&gt; a un elemento que es capaz de almacenar energía eléctrica por un tiempo determinado, la cual luego se desprende de diversas formas según el uso que se le quiera dar.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;En una placa madre o en una fuente de alimentación, el capacitor se utiliza principalmente como filtro, para "&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;purificar&lt;/span&gt;" las señales internas bloqueando las pequeñas variaciones que puedan ocurrir.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Internamente, el capacitor se compone de dos placas conductoras que están separadas por un dieléctrico, ésto es, un material que no conduce la electricidad. Una vez conectado a una fuente de alimentación que entrega una tensión &lt;strong&gt;V&lt;/strong&gt; entre sus placas, comienzan a almacenarse cargas de polaridad opuesta en cada una de ellas. De esta forma, una de las placas queda cargada positivamente, mientras que la otra lo hace de forma negativa. Esta diferencia hace que se produzca un campo eléctrico en el dieléctrico del condensador, resultando allí una diferencia de potencial &lt;strong&gt;V&lt;/strong&gt; exactamente igual a la entregada por la fuente de alimentación.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;a href="http://es.tinypic.com/" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;img src="http://i36.tinypic.com/11r6ffb.png" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;El parámetro característico del capacitor es la &lt;strong&gt;capacitancia&lt;/strong&gt; (C), que es el cociente entre las cargas almacenadas (Q) y la tensión aplicada entre sus placas (V).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p class="Texto"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span&gt;C = Q / V&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;La capacitancia se mide en &lt;em&gt;farads&lt;/em&gt; (F), aunque generalmente se trabaja en &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;µ&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;F (10&lt;/span&gt;&lt;sup&gt;&lt;span&gt;-6&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/sup&gt;&lt;span&gt; farads) o nF (10&lt;/span&gt;&lt;sup&gt;&lt;span&gt;-9&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/sup&gt;&lt;span&gt; farads).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="pagina_contenido"&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Una de las características del capacitor es que se "&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;opone&lt;/span&gt;" a las variaciones de tensión. Dicho con otras palabras, el capacitor siempre trata de mantener la misma tensión entre sus placas, aunque obviamente ésto es imposible, dado que ningún capacitor es perfecto y paulatinamente se “escapan” las cargas.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Por esta característica es que el capacitor se utiliza tanto en la etapa de salida de las fuentes de alimentación y de los reguladores de tensión de motherboards y placas de video, entre otros componentes.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;    &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left; color: rgb(51, 204, 255);" class="subtitulo"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Un ejemplo práctico&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Supongamos que nuestro microprocesador funciona con una tensión de 1,35 V, y pasamos del estado &lt;em&gt;idle&lt;/em&gt; (uso mínimo; por ejemplo, el Escritorio de Windows) a &lt;em&gt;full-load&lt;/em&gt; (carga máxima; por ejemplo, la compresión de un archivo): el procesador le “pedirá” rápidamente una mayor intensidad de corriente a la placa madre, de modo que es muy probable que, por un instante, el regulador de tensión no soporte el brusco cambio y su tensión de salida fluctúe un poco. Inmediatamente el procesador percibirá este cambio en su tensión y muy probablemente fallará. Por lo tanto, es sumamente importante que al procesador le llegue siempre la misma tensión, o al menos la suficiente para operar correctamente.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;    &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left; color: rgb(51, 204, 255);" class="subtitulo"&gt;&lt;span&gt;El capacitor en acción&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Una de las leyes circuitales básicas dice que si colocamos dos elementos en paralelo, compartirán exactamente la misma tensión. Por lo tanto, si en la etapa de salida de un regulador de tensión colocamos un capacitor que quede en paralelo con el procesador, ambos tendrán la misma tensión; si la tensión varía por un instante, el capacitor se “resistirá” al cambio y descargará su energía en el procesador, manteniendo en éste la tensión que le corresponde hasta que la fuente de entrada se reponga. De esta forma, el capacitor funciona como una importante salvaguarda del procesador.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Esto que aprendimos nos es útil para comprender que es posible que una PC esté funcionando aun con capacitores dañados, lo cual puede llevarla a fallas de diversa índole, tanto esporádicas como frecuentes.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;  &lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: left;" class="Texto"&gt;&lt;span&gt;También nos enseña que el capacitor es un pilar fundamental a la hora de exigir al regulador de tensión o a la fuente de alimentación al límite de sus capacidades.
